The Barefoot Church Primer is an eight-week guide to serving through community and is based on the book “Barefoot Church: Serving the Least in a Consumer Culture”. It’s designed for any small group, community group, or bible study group to build a stronger biblical foundation for serving the poor, gain a greater understanding of biblical mercy and justice, and learn how to engage need as an intuitive part of life. Next week at The Verge Conference in Austin, I’ll be giving away a few pre-release copies of the Barefoot Church Primer.
Just for fun, I thought I’d pull a 25 copies from the pile and give away to those of you who have read Barefoot Church (the book) here on my blog.
So here’s what I need you to do. The first 25 people who respond to this blog with (1) a favorite quote from the book with your name and address in the comments, (2) rate and review the Barefoot Church book at Amazon.com by clicking HERE, and (3) tweet something about the primer including a link to http://www.missiopublishing.com… I will send you one of the first 25 copies available.
If you haven’t read the book yet but are still interested in the primer: Do the same as above only just promise me you’ll read and review the book soon, throw me out a tweet, and I’ll send you a copy of the primer anyway (if you’re one of the first 25).
The BFC Primer will be available for pre-order on February 24th and will be shipped March 14th.

one of my favorite… gut wrenching. BTW, the ministry that resulted from that story is doing AMAZING. We’re building safe houses to prevent human trafficking in Haiti with them. Just awesome stuff.

Favorite quote in the book; Page 27; “The least” is a collective description of those in need. It describes anyone who simply has less. “Less” can refer to anything from being under resourced to being alone, from having adequate or no housing to little or no food, from the rarity of comfort to the complete lack of freedom. Less is simple less.

This was by far my favorite book I’ve ever read! SO many GREAT things!
Can’t wait to get my hands on the primer and really work on implementing it all in to my daily life!

Absolutely loved the book. What really pulled me in was the quote of “measuring success through the lens of the kingdom is life giving. Measuring success by focusing on attendance is like a dog chasing his tail”. Very true – butts in seats does not necessarily mean kingdom growth.

I’m sure this a little late for the give away but if not i would love a copy. I have read Barefoot Church three times and your beloveds books Interrputed and 7 also. You have read our mail. We recently have felt the tension and really have lost our job as children’s pastors for 15 years because our vision and focus has changed from serving the blessed to serving the least and poor. We now do Sidewalk sonday school in the projects in knoxville tn and have been ruined for the ordinary. We are working on raising our own support as urban missionaries. Our heart to be a blessing to our city and to faciliate ministering to the poor through our church’s house churches to get them out and on mission.
My favorite quote is when you talked about ” to volunteer we provide the sweat and the organiztion you are serving gets the credit, to have no agenda when serving” i love it. Our church a has a debt that has been a weight and seems to hang over our heads like an anvil. Many times I have heard them talk about outreach to get the right people in, which didn’t set with us well. We have always been drawn to the needy. And now we have been called. A huge step for us .. we have 6 children but we see the Lord’s hand in it all.
I have enjoyed your book and would like to use your primer to help house churches get started to live on mission and a class I’m teaching next school year with homeschool high school students to live on mission, which we would have each student buy your books:)
